Booktalk – MACNOLIA @ Panera

We met our students at Panera in Northfield for a booktalk over the book MACNOLIA by A. Van Jordan earlier today. Most of the VV students showed up, and once everyone had grabbed some lunch from the ever getting busier lunch rush, we settled into two groups to discuss the book. One group was led by Mrs. Testa and Mr. Johansson (as backup, only), the other by Mr. Testa and Mr. Loman.

Both groups worked hard at dissecting the readings, analyzing individual poems, and developing deeper understandings of the book and its subject. Towards the end, the students were challenged with their next assignment – to write a poem in the style of Jordan’s definition style, which will be displayed here in this website in a few weeks. Also, look for the assignment itself for further details.
