Introduction / IMC Work

Introduction

The final project for Valley Voyages 2011 is a multifaceted research project that will culminate in the students creating poetic quests for the public about People of the Valley at a specific location.

You will choose the place, people, historic facts, flora and fauna you choose to include. As you complete each phase of the project, and get approval from the teaching team, a new phase of the project will be released to you.

When you finish the step by step process, you will have collected and archived data about your subject, written and tested your quest, and created and presented something that our community can enjoy forever. Good luck!

Scope of Project

The final project for Valley Voyages, Spring of 2011, is a multipart, long term project that will take weeks, if not months, to fully complete. Some parts of the project will not be realized until well after the semester ends, as the Valley Voyages faculty members will continue to work with the materials.

There are a group of final products that will be generated from each student, and they include:

  • A place-based Quest
  • A virtual Quest, based on the above
  • Historical data collection, and database preservation
  • Publishing and presenting the work

Time-line

The time-line for the overall project is Spring Semester, 2011. As such, there are specific deadlines to be met in order to progress with certain parts of the project. Please familiarize yourself with the deadlines – all of which are or will be indicated on the calendar. Additionally, see the below segment on phased release of information.

Administrative Details

The final project represent a major part of your grade. Please make sure you are aware of each of the items that you are responsible for creating or completing.

Phased Release of Information

Throughout the semester, as you work on the project, various stages of the instructions will be released. As such, you will not have access to all of the instructions at once. The rationale behind this method is to limit the overload potentially posed by the entirety of the project.

You will have to complete each phase before gaining access to the next step. That means that you will need to keep a constant pace as you prepare your project, and will not be able to quickly, and in a panic, put together your final project overnight.

Once you have completed a part of the project, or a phase, and submitted the required materials or products, you will be given a password that will unlock the next part of the project. Once you have the password, you can use it to login to the next phase, and continue the project.
