Questing Template

Instructions, headings, and what to include in your Quest

The below headings match that of the submission form that you will use to submit your Quest online. Make sure you have the entire information set ready, and complete, as you will not be able to go back and add to your Quest after it has been submitted. You may be asked to edit you Quest after you submit it, in which case you will be working with an electronic version that we will supply you with.

For the full instructions on how to design and make your Quest, please see the Valley Voyages website, under Projects.

Title

Create a title that relates to the Quest itself. The title should describe the Quest, so think about some key features of the place you’re working with. Fewer words are better, but make them descriptive.

Subtitle

You may wish to include a subtitle, especially if you’re working with a place within a place, or a person within a place.

One-Sentence Explanation

The one-sentence explanation should describe the Quest in one sentence, and relate to what the visitor will experience. For example, an easy stroll, a challenging hike, … discovering the truth behind the Macedonia Commons.

Planning Ahead

A further description of what the visitor will experience, and what they could assume, like “bring hiking boots”, “dress for the weather”, “be ready to climb some stairs”, or “drinking water is limited”.

Getting There

Provide some information on how to get to the starting point of your Quest, maybe an exact street address, or a location description, like “start at the southeast corner of the Park”. If there are open times, or other things that may restrict experiencing the Quest, make sure to list them.

Clues

Write your clues in stanzas – or in the poetic form of your choice. If you have questions about this, please let us know.

Map

Your map may be hand-drawn, and you can hand this in separately from the submission of the above material. The map will be scanned in, or, if you have an electronic map, contact us directly.
